(Con Thien, South Vietnam) 1st brigade, 5th mechanized division gets jurisdiction over "Leatherneck Sq." [sergeant Major Emil TEPSITCH - says we're here to kill. Our unit goes on foot Man on the ground will win. Must shoot back whether it's the DMZ (demilitarized zone) or not.] [Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Selby LITTLE - says to secure 2 bases and interdict infiltration rtes. Not concerned about monsoon season.] Rain cuts down on air power. Doesn't hamper enemy artillery.
