(Studio) Nixon meets with Soviet Communist Party Leader Leonid Brezhnev.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner

(Moscow, USSR ) Russians stage proper, courteous airport welcome for President Nixon and party Security tight. President Podgorny, Premier Kosygin lead reception committee 20 mile route to downtown Moscow crowded with Russians seeking glimpse of visitors. On arriving at Kremlin, Nixon has surprise mtg. with Brezhnev. Mtg. compared to that with Chairperson Mao in Peking, China. At Soviet state dinner, American delegation begins informal talks with counterparts. In toast, Nixon says talks are for peaceful cooperation. US and Russian roles in Vietnam implied.
