(Studio) National Airlines jet hijacked en route from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to NYC. Plane forced to return to Philadelphia.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith

(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) 111 passengers, crew of 7 suffer temperatures above 100 degrees after air conditioning fails, and are held hostage by 2 hijackers. Ordeal lasts 9 hrs. FBI negotiates with hijackers via radio. Hijackers get $600,000 ransom, parachutes, and another plane. Passengers released. Hijackers take hostages from crew aboard 2nd plane. (Lake Jackson, Texas) Land at small airport near Houston, Texas. Several hostages escape. FBI helicopter hovers overhead. Hijackers order smaller plane. Make FBI agent who pilots it, strip to underwear. Hijackers suddenly surrender.
