(Studio) Child abuse and resulting murder case of Melisha Gibson by parents in Cleveland, Tennessee, in October noted. (Film shown.) Trial moved to Athens, Tennessee, and today jury convicts both defendants of 2nd degree murder.

(Athens, Tennessee) Court proceedings noted; both Ronald Maddux and wife Wanda blame each other for child's death; questioning by prosecutor Richard Fisher cited. Case has focused attention on Tennessee's child abuse laws. This wk. state considers laws to try to ensure other children won't have same fate as Melisha Gibson.
