| Abstract: | The afternoon session of the Senate Watergate Hearings begins with Senator Lowell Weicker questioning former White House Counsel John Dean about the statement he made earlier before the committee including dealings with the Internal Security Division. Committee Chairman Senator Sam Ervin, reads a letter that he and Senator Howard Baker, with unanimous consent of the Committee, sent to the White House asking them to declassify specific documents so they may be used in the investigation. Senator Ervin went on to read the White House’s response which gave permission.The committee recesses for ten minutes to give John Dean and his lawyers time to review the documents. |
