  • After recessing to give John Dean and his lawyers time to review documents, the Senate Watergate Hearings resume. Committee Chairman Sam Ervin asks John Dean to identify the documents

  • Sam Ervin thanks George Murphy, deputy director of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy for being custodian of the documents

  • Committee Vice Chairman Howard Baker also thanks George Murphy and Congressman Mel Price, chairman of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy

  • John Dean explains how he came into possession of the documents.

  • Senator Lowell Weicker resumes the examination of John Dean’s testimony. They explore the Internal Security Division and the Department of Justice.

  • John Dean talks about his relationship with Robert Mardian, William Sullivan and the leaks of wiretap logs.

  • John Dean discusses requests made by the White House to various Federal Agencies for intelligence and to embarrass those on an “enemies list” including the FBI investigation of CBS reporter Daniel Schorr.

  • Senator Joseph Montoya cross examines John Dean about briefing White House Press Secretary Ron Ziegler. Montoya goes on to ask about briefing President Nixon and statements made by the President about Watergate.

  • The committee recesses for a short time to cast a vote in the Senate
