| Abstract: | Program examining the event in April 1980 that captured millions of Americans: when boatloads of Cubans seeking to leave their island began to travel across the straights of Florida to Key West. Castro had unexpectedly opened the port of Mariel which was a gateway to the United States.
Follows a camera crew who goes to the port of Mariel and captures Cuban families looking for their loved ones in Cuba.
This program focuses on the plight of the refugees- many have not seen their families in 8 or 9 years and how America handles the overflow of refugees |
