Title: Afghanistan: Caught in the Struggle

Abstract:Special program that highlights that when their is war, there is struggle. There is struggle in Afghanistan and this is shown in the faces of almost 4 million refugees- the largest population of refugees in the world. The Soviets are now present in this mountainous country; why? Moscow says that they came into the country to aid the Afghan people. But, many say that the Soviets arrived because they wanted to defend their southern borders or ultimately gain control of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean: i.e. threaten the lifeline of Western Europe: oil. The only thing that is preventing the Soviets from doing this is the Afghan resistance. This program will investigate the Afghan resistance.
