Abstract:

A two part examination of the Palestinian uprising in the Israeli- occupied territories of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank with Hodding Carter (PBS): Part one presents an Israeli perspective in the documentary "A Search for Solid Ground: The Intifada Through Israeli Eyes" narrated by Richard Valeriani, with Israeli General Ze'ev Livni, Benjamin Begin (son of Menachem Begin), writer Sara Halevi, journalist Yossi Klein-Halevi, journalist Hirsh Goodman, Shai Goodman, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kolleck, former Israeli official Mordecai Gazit, businessman Eyal Peled, Israeli Army General Mordechai Gur, Israeli Minister of Justice Dan Meridor, Alon Ben-Gurion (grandson of David Ben-Gurion), Reserve Officer Nir Zeid, Reserve Officer Nir Barkat, Israeli Soldier Shimon Navon, Reserve Commander Gilead Sher, and other Israeli soldiers and citizens. Part two is a panel discussion led by Carter with Helena Cobban of George Mason University, Daniel Pipes of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, and Edward Said of Columbia University.
