(Washington: Tom Costello) The discovery that mine operator Massey Energy kept 2 sets of safety records for the Upper Big Branch coal mine in West Virginia, which exploded in 2010, featured; statement from Alpha Natural Resources, which bought Massey Energy, quoted. [Mine Safety and Health administrator Kevin STRICKLIN†- says miners who were worried about conditions would not complain due to fear of retribution.] [West Virginia special investigator Davitt McATEER†- says equipment was decades old.] Former Massey CEO Don Blankenship†’s refusal to talk to investigators noted.
