(Studio: Ted Koppel) Suicide of prominent New York City political Don. Manes reported

(NYC: Stephen Geer) Manes' suicide and his recent political and legal problems possibly contributing to his emotional instability examined; scenes shown. [Police chief Benjamin WARD - describes scene.] [In January MANES - admits suicide attempt.] Investigation of deputy director of parking violations Geoffrey Lindenauer noted resulting in Michael Dowd, involved in firm which collects unpaid parking fines, accusing Manes of extorting bribes from him. [Feb., Mayor Edward KOCH - believes Manes is crook.] Manes noted thought to be indicted soon. [Today, KOCH - prefers to remember positive side of Manes.]
