(Detroit: Gabe Gutierrez) GM’s acknowledgment that it decided in 2005 not to announce that a partial fix for defective ignition switches was available and that it knew about the problem in 2001 examined; photo shown of Brooke Melton†, who died when her Chevy Cobalt crashed; details given about the redesign of the keys. [Attorney Lance COOPER – says for cost reasons they chose not to reduce the problem.] [Brooke’s parents Beth & Ken MELTON†- comment.] [In deposition, former Cobalt program engineering manager Gary ALTMAN††- agrees GM made a business decision not to fix this problem.]
