(Studio: Scott Pelley) The view of Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt, who traveled around the world with Google’s ideas director Jared Cohen††, that the internet is a force for liberation that cannot be stopped noted. [SCHMIDT – says the internet allows individuals to see and hear things they’ve never seen before; comments on government censorship.] [COHEN – comments on the future of China; says the ability to create a totalitarian society has been eliminated.] Schmidt’s announcement of a donation to organizations that spread the internet and the book by Schmidt & Cohen called “The New Digital Age” noted.
