By sheer coincidence on the day Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death. Transit Officer Richard Donohue was promoted to sergeant. His parents pinned the insignia on his collar. Donohue was nearly killed in the shootout with the Tsarnaev brothers and just went back to work.
