(Paris: Jim Laurie) President Mikhail Gorbachev's role in promoting the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe to get a conventional arms agreement and to find a voice for USSR in this new European institution featured; scenes shown. [Soviet European Institution Dr. Pavel BAEV - says this conference is important to Gorbachev.] Threat of Soviet economic and political chaos to new peaceful order that nations here hope to build noted. [Journalist Andrei OSTALSKY - says if USSR breaks apart, the European process would be undermined.] Gorbachev's need for European good will to help him stabilize the USSR explained.
