(State Department: John McWethy) Coverage of the topic of USSR and the issue of Lithuanian independence by Secretary of State James Baker before and during his meeting with Soviet foreign minister Eduard Shevardnadze examined. [BAKER - comments on dialogue between United States and Lithuania.] [SHEVARDNADZE - (thru translator) says he is not aware of what is happening.] United States said dragging its feet on announcing summit meeting between President Mikhail Gorbachev and President Bush until it is convinced Moscow is resolving the Lithuanian crisis.
