(Studio) Reverend Ralph Abernathy tells Southern Christian Leadership Conference conference he'll stick to non-violence but he wants whites to change political decision making.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith

(Memphis, Tennessee) Abernathy speaks to convention [ABERNATHY - says no enthusiasm among Negroes for Nixon because he's shown he's controlled by men like Thurmond. May be less enthusiasm for Humphrey for fear he'll be controlled by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Mississippi Senator James Eastland and Johnson. Doesn't want HHH and Democrats to feel they have black vote in their hip pocket. May have blackout on President election if no 1 runs who'll serve needs of people.] Abernathy says those who shout law and order while circumventing courts and exploiting poor won't get black vote.
