(Studio) Report on current situation with regard to illegal entry.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith
(Texas-Mexico Border) 280,000 crossed illegally in 1970 and were caught. Maybe 500,000 never caught. Procedure shown to catch "wetback." Detention center for illegal aliens shown. Pay keeps them coming back. Border agents Charles Young and Edward Gunter check beer halls in Brownsville, Texas. Teenage girl sent back. Patrol feels American employers should be penalized for hiring illegal workers at substandard wages and making profit.
