(Washington: Bill Greenwood) Controversy over sponsorship of women's tennis tournaments by Virginia Slims tobacco company examined. [In February 1990, Health and Human Services Secretary Louis SULLIVAN - opposes this "blood money."] Interior Department noted approving use of tennis courts on federal property for this summer's Washington, DC, Virginia Slims tournament. [Representative Eleanor Holmes NORTON - says they should play somewhere else.] [Interior Secretary Manuel LUJAN - says they have a contract.] Issue of policies of one federal department, the HHS, being undermined by those of another, the Interior Department, reiterated.
