(Studio: Carole Simpson) Agreement by six Persian Gulf countries to participate in the proposed Middle East peace conference reported.

(Damascus: John McWethy) Secretary of State James Baker's peace mission featured; scenes shown of his arrival in Damascus, Syria. [BAKER - comments.] Reasons why the gulf states of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to a role in the peace process noted. Baker's planned meeting with Syrian President Hafez al-Assad and the Israelis previewed.
