(London: Pierre Salinger) Background to the recent release of the hostages in Lebanon featured; details given of hostage takers' negotiations with Iran, which wanted to end the hostage holding to get assets in the United States unfrozen. Clandestine deal behind the release of three French hostages on May 3, 1988, reviewed. Western concern that hostage takers will go back into business once the money that they received for releasing the hostages runs out noted.
