(Washington: John Martin) ABC News investigation of Defense Department's handling the purchase of radar jamming devices that some experts considered flawed featured; statement from deputy Defense Secretary Donald Atwood promising to cancel the order if tests failed quoted. General Accounting Office report finding that Navy hid test failure results on the devices purchased from ITT (International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation) and Westinghouse.
