(Convention Hall) Louis Harris Poll shows Richard Nixon leads Humphrey, McCarthy and president Johnson by 6 pts. No recent gains for Governor George Wallace. Humphrey expected to get most of Texas votes, as Governor John Connally gave up favorite son candidacy. Tennessee Governor Buford Ellington gave up his and endorsed Humphrey. South Carolina Governor Robert McNair also drops his candidacy; most of his due to go to Vice President McGovern picks up some support in Vermont and WA; Senator Joseph Clark endorses him.
