(Washington: John Martin) The resignation of deputy Treasury Secretary Roger Altman because of the credibility issue raised by his Congressional Whitewater testimony featured; letters between him and President Clinton quoted. [ALTMAN - jokes.] The testimonies by Altman in February and August and by Jean Hanson and Josh Steiner about contacts with the White House reviewed. [Senator Alfonse D'AMATO - says Hanson and Steiner should resign.]

(Studio: Forrest Sawyer) Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen said recommending Frank Newman to succeed Altman as his deputy.
