(Studio) President Johnson says no 1 can predict when Vietnam troops can go home. Speaks to American Legion convention

(New Orleans, Louisiana) [Legion REP. - intros. president] [JOHNSON - yearns for day men can come home and violence will subside. No 1 can predict that day. If stop panhandle bombing enemy capacity to hurt forces would increase and casualties would increase Vietnam Commander Creighton Abrams said if bombing stopped, enemy would increase capability several fold in 10 days and United States would have to remove men from area. Won't issue order to Abrams.]
