(Studio: Peter Jennings) Two scientists, India's Dr. Gurdeff Kush and Texan Henry Beechel, who dream about trying to feed the world, profiled. [KUSH, BEECHEL - talk about producing food to end famine.] Beechel's development of the IR8 strain of rice with a sturdier stem that doubles the crop yield and Kush's creation of IR36, which is a disease resistant rice variety outlined. United States government estimates on projected food aid cited.
