(Capitol Hill: John Cochran) The killing of the reform legislation by the amendment and filibuster by majority leader Senator Trent Lott outlined; details given of the political stances by the Republicans and Democrats that prevented real reform. [Before the vote, McCAIN - comments.] [LOTT - says this legislation will not pass.] The need for pressure from the public if the system is to change discussed.
