(New York: Armen Keteyian) ABC News investigation into the credibility of pedigree dog registration papers issued by the American Kennel Club featured. [Kennel Club chairman David MERRIAM - defends the registry.] The registration system explained. [Former registration investigator Robert NADEL - says half the dogs in the register were not pedigreed.] [Former San Jose police and Humane Society officer Mike FRAZIER - criticizes AKC procedures.] The controversial case of dog breeder Ken Hershey reviewed. [MERRIAM - says misregistered dogs were canceled.] The New York state attorney general's office said looking into the AKC registry issue.
