(New York) Irving in New York for court appearance involving another book, but reporters question him on disputed autobiography. [IRVING - says he's in touch with Zurich police. Refuses further comment.] [Attorney Martin ACKERMAN - says Mr. and Mrs. Irving were not connected to Swiss incident involving check to Hughes.] [IRVING - says he gave McGraw-Hill check to Hughes.]
