(Studio) Federal Civil Rights Commission holding hearings in New Mexico and Arizona on problems of Indians, especially health problems.

(Navajo Reservation, Arizona) Hospital for huge Navajo Reservation in Gallup, NM, badly understaffed and underequipped. Many Indians don't have transportation to get to hospital. Health representatives sent out to Indian dwellings. Facility at Crown Point, NM, understaffed and underequipped. No surgery facilities; no blood banks. [Indian Health Service official Dr. George HOCK - notes lack of facilities to do what needs to be dome.] [Navajo tribal chairperson Peter McDONALD - says services inadequate.] Main headquarters for Navajos in Arizona a long way from DC.
