(DC) FDA (Food and Drug Administration) acknowledges wide use of D.E.S. for birth control despite connection with vaginal cancer, of female offspring of women who used it during `40's and `50's. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) thinks drug may be safe as contraceptive; hopes to announce in 1 month [Dr. Sidney WOLFE - charges present use dangerous. Note connection between breast cancer and estrogen.] [U. of Pennsylvania chairperson department obstetrics and gynecology Dr. Luigi MASTRIOANNI - claims D.E.S. use safe.] FDA (Food and Drug Administration) sees reason for ban now insufficient.
