(Studio) In Irish Republic, referendum to be held.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner
(Dublin, Ireland) Protestants resent provision in Irish constitution recognizing special position of Catholic Church in state. Govt. asking for repeal of provision. Most people not excited about issue. Dublin businessman, Desmond Broadberry, forms group in opposition to repeal. [BROADBERRY - denies that peace and unity can come by downgrading Church.] Church opposes birth control, divorce and abortion; this reflected in Irish laws.
