(DC) Med. profession criticized for overprescription of antibiotics. [U. of Illinois Dr. Harry DOWLING - says overuse of antibiotics common.] [U. California Dr. Philip LEE - government too lax and not effective enough in getting dangerous or ineffective drugs off market Pharmacists too eager to sell drugs.] Antibiotic chloramphenicol blamed for blood damage. [Director Bureau of Drugs Dr. Henry SIMMONS - says chloramphenicol caused death in 1 case.]
