[In 1965, Mayor Joe SMITHERMAN - says "I am a segregationist."] [Now, SMITHERMAN - says he has tried to make up for his sins.] [Representative John LEWIS - says Smitherman has changed.] Perkins shown campaigning. [PERKINS, black MAN - say Smitherman has not made enough progress.] [SMITHERMAN - admits he will be the last white mayor in Selma.]
