(Pentagon: John McWethy) United States air attack against Iraq because of the threat from Iraqi anti-aircraft featured; video shown of the bombing over Baghdad; map shown of target areas that contained radar facilities. [Joint Chiefs of Staff director of operations Lieutenant General Gregory NEWBOLD - says Iraq was getting too close to our aircraft; points out the targets were in unoccupied areas; indicates this was a military operation.]

[At joint press conference, BUSH - says Saddam must conform to the agreement he signed after Desert Storm.] [Military analyst Tony CORDESMAN - talks about the message being sent.] Reports that Congressional leaders were upset over not getting word of the attack on Iraq noted.
