(Studio) Author Clifford Irving and wife Edith plead guilty to charges that Howard Hughes autobiography was a hoax conceived and compiled for big money.

(NYC) Judge says, in federal court room, he felt It almost unnecessary to hear case due to broadcast coverage. Irvings plead guilty to conspiracy, mail fraud charge dismissed. At state courthouse , Irvings joined by researcher Richard Suskind, and 3 plead guilty to grand larceny and conspiracy. Trio released on probation until June 16 sentencing.
