(Studio) Pres-elect. Richard Nixon names M. R. Haldeman to be White House assistant
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(NYC) Pierre Hotel contains Nixon offices. Hotel shown. [NIXON - says offices very comfortable.] Campaign chief of staff, Haldeman, to become assistant to President, in charge of White House operations and staff. [HALDEMAN - says staff to be small and young; will handle general responsibilities. Reporters will have someone to talk with.] Won't be press secretary as such.
