(Studio) Trial of black Communist Angela Davis begins.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith

(San Jose, California) Miss Davis is charged with murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy for allegedly trying to free the Soledad Brothers in August, 1970. Prosecutor Albert Harris contends Miss Davis aided in kidnapping of judge to exchange for Soledad Bros., and supplied guns. Says Angela Davis loved one of the Bros., George Jackson, who was later killed during prison break. [ANGELA DAVIS - expresses joy at learning remaining 2 Soledad Brothers found not guilty of killing prison guard.] [Defense Attorney Howard MOORE - regrets General Jackson did not live to benefit from court decision.]
