(Chicago, Illinois) Battle over Vietnam platform threatens to tear Democrats apart. Supporters of Senator Eugene McCarthy and late Senator Robert F. Kennedy want total bombing halt, and Saigon government role for VC. Johnson-Humphrey loyalists such as New Jersey Governor Richard Hughes and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley are urging LBJ to speed up events in Paris. Felt LBJ will do something.
