(DC) Asst Republican Leader Robert Griffin writes President Nixon of his opposition to nomination. [Senator Edward KENNEDY - says Griffin's opposition important] Senator Birch Bayh accuses Judge of actively working for vending machine company while on Appeals Court, and 5 other conflicts of interest. [BAYH - suggests there are others just as capable to take his place.] White House stands firm.
