(Studio) National Guard uses tear gas at University Wisconsin on Madison campus to break up picket lines.

(Madison, WI) Governor Warren Knowles orders guard to campus after 4 days of disturbances. Est. 80% student body attended classes as usual. Main student objective is black studies program. [Chancellor H. Edwin YOUNG - reports some demands can only be met by legislature Doesn't believe they'll be generous supporters after recent days.] [Governor KNOWLES - feels pattern seen in all University colleges. Ideology contrary to general American public.] [YOUNG - feels that things best about University make it more vulnerable.] 1,200 extra guards called in.
