(Studio) President Nixon to make 1st report on Vietnam war and peace progress tonight.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(DC) Nixon alone most of day. Met with Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge in favorite, Lincoln Room. Speech won't contain Vietnam breakthrough or plans for troop withdrawal. Will read speech because of diplomatic subtleties.
