(Studio) Teachers' strike hits Chicago.
REPORTER: Roger Mudd
(Chicago, Illinois) 3/4 of city's teachers stay away. Want $150 month increases, better supplies, and no teacher layoffs. Mayor Richard Daley keeps union and ed. board bargaining. [STRIKER - says only teachers and union pushing for better schools.] [2nd STRIKER - says will be impossible to teach with 50 children per room.] [Non-striking BLACK - says union not representative blacks.]
