(Studio) "Hamburger Hill," scene of 1 of war's bloodiest battles, will be abandoned. Casualties reported Reporter says Army feels seek-and-destroy mission is over; Hill pacified. No doubt North Vietnam will return to Hill. Battle drew criticism; especially from Senator Edward Kennedy. But not from 101st Div.

(South Vietnam) 101st Airborne Commander, Major General Melvin Zais, receives distinguished service cross from General Creighton Abrams. Zais promoted to 3-star General Command turned over to Major General John Wright. 101st conts. to sweep A Shau Valley.
