Mayor Marseille, Gaston Defferre is moderate-socialist. 40% back former DeGaulle P. Min., Georges Pompidou, who inherited Gaullist machine. Poher emphasizes change, lower taxes, Britain in Common Mkt., neutral Mideast policy, and strong united Europe.
