(Studio) Nixon says federal government one of nation's worst polluters, and orders government facilities to stop fouling air and water.

(DC) Nixon's campaign is to eliminate pollution at federal facilities to set example. [Russell TRAIN - says government required to meet standards by December 31, 1972.] San Francisco Bay example of federal pollution. Mare Island Naval Base dumping chemicals into sewage that ends up in Bay. Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, ships dumping waste in Bay. Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois is major polluter also. The cleanup process requires $1/3 billion.
