(Studio) Senators Humphrey and McGovern vie for President nomination with Democratic Convention only 3 weeks away.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith
(New Orleans, Louisiana) [Senator Hubert HUMPHREY - softens remarks about McGovern's election chances. Says McGovern should change some of his stands, however.] [MCGOVERN - does not object to open, fair competition, but resents stop McGovern movement consisting of back room deals.] McGovern insists he will not compromise his stands on major issues, regardless of pressure from party leaders or big labor bosses, but will broaden programs.
