(Studio) Great tigers of India threatened.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith
(India) Indian tiger almost extinct, as are leopards. There are more animals on walls of trophy hunters than in forest. In Nagercoil game sanctuary In South India, access is by elephants, but even here there is tragically little to see. Cheetah gone forever; leopard, rhinoceros barely survive. Late Indian P. Min. Nehru said man, in spite of culture and civilization, is more wild and dangerous than any of so-called wild animals.
REPORTER: Peter Jennings
