(Studio) Senator George McGovern says he feels Muskie's decision to stay in race was right one.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner
(NYC) McGovern opens New York campaign. [MCGOVERN - says party will be more united this year than it was in 1968, and will support him if he is nomination] He campaigns in garment district, Jewish area. [MCGOVERN - stresses his support of Israel.] He visits a restaurant, learns of Muskie's move. [MCGOVERN - hoped he would get Muskie's endorsement, but can't argue with Muskie's decision to leave nomination to delegates at conv.] He had said McGovern-Muskie ticket would be superb. He stops in Harlem for meeting with black journalists.
