(DC) Senator Birch Bayh's move to postpone vote fails as Senator Mike Mansfield calls for vote. Democrat President hopefuls vote against confirmation with 3 Republicans Edward Brooke, Clifford Case and Jacob Javits. [BAYH - says concerned with Rehnquist's civil rights stand, Supreme Court conservatism.] [Senator Barry GOLDWATER - says Rehnquist talked him into pro-civil rights stand.] [REHNQUIST - thanks Senator for confirmation, President for nomination] President Nixon has seated 4 conservative Supreme Court justices.
